Cherry Lady

My favourite bôule for café au lait was the source of inspiration for these coasters, mentioned in the Zakka-post earlier. I rubber-stamped the cherries on cotton and combined it with fabric from Ikea and Lecien. I do like cherries… (though I hated having that rather stupid 80ies-tune on my mind while sewing). 

Meine Lieblings-Milchkaffeeschale war die Inspirationsquelle für diese Untersetzer, wie schon im Zakka-post gezeigt. Die Kirschen sind mit Radiergummistempeln auf Baumwolle gedruckt, das Ganze mit Stoff von Ikea und Lecien kombiniert. Ich mag Kirschen… ( auch wenn ich beim Nähen diese schreckliche 80er-Melodie im Ohr hatte).

Sculptures and the artist / Skulpturen und ihr Künstler

Last weekend Marcel stayed overnight at his friend Jan, they made sculptures with wood and all kinds of technical leftovers found in basement and shed. At home this project had to be continued, of course.

Letztes Wochenende hat Marcel bei seinem Freund Jan übernachtet, sie haben Skulpturen aus Holz und technischen Resten aus Keller und Schuppen gebaut. Zu Hause musste das Projekt natürlich weitergeführt werden. 

Frenchy Bag

Today I made the Frenchy Handbag by Amy Butler, using Ikea-fabrics and a dishtowel-cloth. Because I didn’t have a magnetic snap I used one of the many almost ancient press-buttons I inherited from my grandma. I really like the result, and it was the first Amy Butler pattern that didn’t take ages to complete. I’m not very patient when it comes to crafting, I’m all in for instant gratification, that’s why I like sewing and printing and not knitting or crocheting. So, dear female friends and family: prepare yourselves for yummy little handbags made from this pattern!

Heute habe ich die Frenchy Handtasche vom Amy Butler-Schnitt gemacht, ich habe Ikeastoffe und einen Handtuchstoff dafür benutzt. Weil ich keinen Magnetverschluss hatte, habe ich einen der uralten von Omi geerbten Drucknöpfe verwendet. Mir gefällt das Ergebnis und es war der erste von mir benutzte Amy Butler-Schnitt, der nicht Ewigkeiten zur Fertigstellung brauchte. Ich bin nicht besonders geduldig wenn’s um’s Selbermachen geht, ich brauche schnelle Erfolgserlebnisse, deshalb nähe und drucke ich gern im Gegensatz zum stricken oder häkeln. Also, liebe Freundinnen und Verwandte: stellt euch dieses Jahr auf solche schnuckeligen Handtaschen ein!

Bag Projects / Taschenprojekte

The next days I’m going to try some bag patterns, Amy Butler’s Frenchy Handbag and a bag with round bamboo-handles I don’t have a pattern for, but I’ll make one up, shouldn’t be too diffcult. I just like those round handles and couldn’t resist buying them. 

In nächster Zeit möchte ich neue Taschenschnitte ausprobieren: Amy Butlers Frenchy Bag und eine Tasche mit runden Bambusgriffen. Dafür habe ich kein Schnittmuster, aber ich werde mir eins ausdenken, sollte nicht zu schwierig sein. Ich mag die Griffe einfach und konnte beim Kauf nicht widerstehen. 

Jeans refashion for summer / Sommerjeans

Thursday morning the SRP arrived, a huge parcel with a fabric and cloths-swap of some Dawandarians who are into sewing (more about it in another post, when Stine  is here next week). Lovely and generous Petra of ranipink had put a lot of colour- and beautiful fabrics in it, Saris and other oriental swatches and a georgeous ribbon, which I have used to refashion an old jeans for summer. Now I have something summery to wear with my tunics. Thank you so much, Petra!

Am Donnerstag morgen kam das SRP (StoffresteReisePaket), ein Stofftauschring nähender Dawanderianerinnen (mehr dazu, wenn Stine nächste Woche da ist). Die ausgesprochen sympathische und großzügige Petra von ranipink hatte eine sehr bunte und wunderhübsche Mischung von Saris und anderen orientalischen Stoffresten hineingepackt und auch eine sehr schöne Borte, die ich für eine Sommer-Jeans-Aufwertung benutzt habe. Jetzt habe ich etwas sommerliches zu meinen Tuniken zu tragen. Ganz herzlichen Dank, Petra!

Buttons / Knöpfe

Last weekend I decided not to sell simply fabric-covered buttons, because it is absolutely not challenging on the creative or technical side. Instead I chose to combine my two new crafts and make buttons covered with rubber-stamped fabric. I’ll give some of them away in Dawanda’s Promo-bags (Daria-86) and sell sets of six.

 

Letztes Wochenende entschloss ich mich, doch keine schlicht mit Stoff bezogenen Knöpfe zu verkaufen, weil das einfach weder besonders kreativ noch handwerklich herausfordernd ist. Statt dessen verbinde ich lieber meine beiden neuen Leidenschaften und mache Knöpfe mit selbst bedruckten Stoffen. Einige davon werde ich in die Dawanda Promo-bags (Daria-86) geben und Sets von sechs Stück verkaufen. 

Lotus tunic II

Aaaand: this morning I finally finished the Lotus Tunic! I had thought it was a one-weekend, straightforward project, but it wasn’t. I underestimated the time needed to sew the lining and the sleeves, and frankly, in between I lost motivation. But now it is finished and wearable, and perhaps I can persuade my family to come with me and show it off at a garden-fair: garden Tadaa! Here it is:

Uuuund: heute morgen habe ich endlich die Lotus Tunika fertig gestellt. I hatte gedacht, dass das ein Wochenend-Projekt sein würde, aber das war’s nicht. Ich hatte die Nähzeit für das Futter und die gekräuselten Ärmel unterschätzt, und offen gesagt hatte ich zwischendurch auch etwas die Lust verloren. Aber jetzt ist’s fertig und tragbar und vielleicht kann ich meine Familie überreden, sie beim Gartenzauber gardenspazieren zu tragen. Tataa! Hier ist sie: 

DaWanda-meeting / DaWanda-Treffen

Yesterday was the first privately organized meeting of DaWanda-sellers in Hamburg. I had been to a previous one in Hannover in early March and I thought I’d meet some of the people again, but instead there were new faces: Ute (Kreativine), who had generously organized everything, Petra (Paulina), Gila (Strumpfkunst), Anne (Schnurzelbaby), Sabine (SchmuckeBine), Heike (tueddelie) and last not least Elisa (elisa). We had loads of nice food, interesting chats and products to see and I had brought along the buttoncovermachine, so the girls had something to play with ;-))

Gestern war das erste privat organisierte DaWanda-Treffen in Hamburg. Ich war beim Treffen in Hannover Anfang März und dachte, einige Leute wieder zu treffen, aber dafür gab’s neue Gesichter: Ute (Kreativine), die alles so großzügig organisiert hatte, Petra (Paulina), Gila (Strumpfkunst), Anne (Schnurzelbaby), Sabine (SchmuckeBine), Heike (tueddelie) und last not least Elisa (elisa). Es gab viel leckeres Essen, anregende Gespräche und Produkte zu sehen und ich hatte die Knopfbeziehmaschine mitgebracht, damit die Mädels was zu spielen hatten ;-))

Rubber stamps / Radiergummistempel

And yesterday I did something else I had wanted for a long time: I made stamps from the unclaimed rubbers I’ve collected in my classroom. As a teacher it is the perfect source, students like to poke little bits out of their rubbers and throw them at their classmates when they think the teacher isn’t looking. Ha! I AM looking! And I AM collecting their rubbers and keep them in the teachers’s desk ’cause this behaviour isn’t harmful but obnoxious. Every now and then I clean that desk and ask the pupils to reclaim their belongings. Unclaimed things come into the bin - or in my bag. Well, this is what I did with them, inspired by this shop : alinea and this tutorial:  rubber-stamp-tutorial

Und ich habe gestern noch etwas gemacht, was ich schon lange tun wollte: ich habe Stempel aus den Radiergummis gemacht, die ich im Laufe der Zeit in meiner Klasse gesammelt habe. Als Lehrerin bin ich direkt an der Quelle, die Schüler popeln gerne kleine Stückchen aus ihren Radierern und bewerfen sich damit, wenn sie denken, dass der Lehrer nicht hinschaut. Ha! Ich SEHE! Und ich SAMMLE! Erst landet alles im Lehrerpult, denn dies Verhalten ist zwar nicht gefährlich, aber nervtötend. Ab und an räume ich den Pult auf und gebe alles zurück. Dinge, die keiner wiederhaben will landen im Müll - oder in meiner Tasche. Und das habe ich daraus gemacht, inspiriert von diesem Shop alinea und diesem Tutorium: rubber-stamp-tutorial
